This book collection of Chuukese and English bilingual books was developed with Chuuk State Department of
Education (CDOE) and Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL), as part of the Chuuk Language
& Content (L&C) Learning project. The collection is designed to contain dedicated resources for each grade of the K5 to grade 8 spectrum. This is an ongoing project and we have completed materials for K5 and grade 1
thus far. The materials encompass four themes:

•  traditional stories,

•  environment,

•  plants and animals, and

•  daily island life.

These resources build students’ Chuukese and English literacy through exploring topics important to students, their communities, and Chuuk. View Collection.

Though more than a dozen dictionaries exist for Micronesian languages, chances are that you do not have one at your home and your children and students have never used one. Change is now coming from Kosrae! After years of work, Kosrae DOE and Shonan Institute of Technology, under leadership of Mr. Alister Tolenoa and Dr. David Hough, have written a “junior”-version of the Kosraean language dictionary -- concise, pedagogic, illustrated, and focused on vocabulary that is essential for students to master. IREI put the final touches on the material and published this groundbreaking book on behalf of Kosrae DOE. We are now engaged in linguistic research projects with the ultimate goal to bring to our schools comparable dictionaries for other Micronesian languages. View Book.
